Gabriela-Anaité (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary artist, percussionist, and singer, best known for her dynamic drumming performances with local artists, passion for dance, and as the original Selena Tribute Artist of Alberta. A proud first-generation Canadian born to Guatemalan parents, Gabriela embraces and honors her ancestral roots through the powerful art of music.
Her name, Anaité, meaning "flor que cae o flor caída - fallen flower" in Maya language, speaks to her deep connection with nature and the cycles of life, which she expresses in her music. As a drummer, Gabriela seeks to break down systemic barriers and eliminate biases that often hinder women’s advancement in the music scene, particularly within the local Calgary community.
